Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: Teens attacked at NY subway station, sneakers taken

The NYPD is on the lookout for a pair of individuals who are alleged to have engaged in a robbery and assault at a subway station.

According to police, the incident took place on February 17 at approximately 3 pm when a quartet of unidentified males approached two teenage boys, aged 16 and 15, at the Dyckman Street station in Inwood. The nefarious foursome then pounced on the two youths, reigning down punches and kicks. The incident escalated when one of the attackers brandished a scalpel and then put it into action, slashing the 16-year-old on the head; the 15-year-old received slashes on the nose and lip.

The pack of criminals was not yet done, as they proceeded to then forcibly relieve the 16-year-old of his phone and sneakers, a pair of Air Jordans, and then explicably removed just one of the 15-year-old’s sneakers before escaping on foot.

The victims were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center in stable condition.

Police released photographs of two of the suspects. One is described as a youth of approximately 16 years of age, with a medium complexion, black hair with a slim build. He was last spotted wearing a dark green hooded Canadian Goose jacket with grey sweats and black sneakers. The second suspect is a dark-complexioned male last seen wearing a black cost with tan fur on the hood, blue jeans.

Parties with information germane to this case are asked to NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
